The black and white chequerboard, a popular choice for its versatility, has been used and referenced throughout history in a multitude of architectural settings. Using two contrasting colours, this style of design perfectly compliments the period home as well as modern interiors.

Victorian tile designs were prized for both their beauty and ease of maintenance. The tradition of colourful and decorative mosaic tiling remains to this day and has grown in popularity over the last few decades.

Edwardian designs tend to use an earthy colour palette of red, brown, coffee, cognac, black, grey and white. Designs in the Edwardian period were simpler than the decorative Victorian patterns, using larger tile sizes and basic border patterns.
